Self-realisation.

I just realised why my book is so important and why it is so important I follow through and publish it. And the reason is ... The books main theme is not only self-love but transformation. We ALL go through transitions, places in our lives that transform us and although the werewolf is a good representation in the book (it is the isn't the only one in the series, but that little easter-egg is for the 2nd book) , for the purposes of this blog I choose to use the best and the butterfly is the BEST representation of this metamorphosis in this instance.

Transformation is uncomfortable and sometimes exceptionally painful, but the end result is always a more beautiful and worthy end.

When you're going through something and it hurts, it moulds you into being a far better person. Beauty is costly and I'm not talking lipstick, foundation or surgery. It costs. It takes sacrifice and often isolating a part of yourself, sometimes isolating your whole self. It is supposed to be a struggle!

Do you think the caterpillar has ANY idea that after spinning his cocoon he'll be able to fly? Let alone have wings that look so glorious they'd make Michaelangelo weep? No, while he's in that thing, he's probably thinking he's about to die. Whilst I have been polishing the novel, I have faced huge dilemmas within myself that made me question why I started writing the thing, to begin with, it has taken me up until now to realise the reason it needs to be published, not just for myself, but for the audience, I doubt, even at this stage, even exists. And that is the metaphor of transformation. Especially in our current age. Transformation is painful, messy and often embarrassing, but it shouldn't be. It should be celebrated and encouraged. We should ALL be what our creator had in mind when he designed us and we can't be without some kind of transformation.

And actually, another thought has occurred to me. If you too are facing self-doubt as to your writing or your life in general. Be that caterpillar in its cocoon and remember, your transformation is part of the process it IS messy and it IS painful, but keep doing it because it REALLY WILL be worth it!
